Grammy award-winning singer Roberta Flack, recognized for hits like Killing Me Softly with His Track and The First Time Ever I Noticed Your Face has died.

In line with NBC Information, the singer handed away on the age of 88.

Flack’s dying was introduced by a spokesperson, who mentioned she “died peacefully surrounded by her household”.

Flack suffered a stroke in 2016 and two years later collapsed throughout a live performance, forcing her to make use of a wheelchair. In November 2022, a consultant introduced that Flack had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a deadly motor neuron illness, and will now not sing.

Flack’s supervisor later issued a launch stating that the illness “has made it unattainable to sing and never simple to talk”.

Flack started taking part in classical piano at a younger age and later signed with Atlantic Information Group the place she recorded The First Time Ever I Noticed Your Face which was written by Ewan MacColl, the NBC report mentioned. In 1973, the music gained the Grammy for Report of the 12 months and Track of the 12 months.

She later recorded hits Okayilling Me Softly with His Track and Really feel like Makin’ Love, which turned her second and third primary music on the Billboard Sizzling 100.
