BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Guyana’s President Dr Irfaan Ali has been chosen to exchange Dr Keith Rowley as the brand new chairman of the Caricom subcommittee on cricket.
The announcement was made by outgoing chairman Dr Rowley on Friday in the course of the ultimate day of the forty eighth Caricom Heads of Authorities assembly in Barbados.
Dr Rowley stated it could be his ultimate Caricom assembly and added that Dr Ali had been chosen as the brand new chairman.
“…That is the top of my tenure as prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago and my final assembly at Caricom.
“At this time I handed over to the plenary-selected, or agreed to pick, my colleague… my colleague from Guyana, who’s an eminent cricketer, as you recognize, President Dr Irfaan Ali to now take the chairmanship of the subcommittee on cricket,” Dr Rowley stated.
“We keep our curiosity within the potential for West Indies cricket to stay on the excessive stage internationally and the preservation of our legacy, and the heads of Authorities ought to proceed to be keen on what goes on in West Indies cricket and help wherever we will.”
Dr Rowley stated West Indies cricket had been mentioned in the course of the three-day assembly, though not in nice element.
He stated this was as a consequence of the truth that progress had been made in some areas following talks in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
“In current instances we now have not been having heads of Authorities conferences with out having a part from West Indies cricket,” Dr Rowley stated.
