A bit of the Could Pen cemetary in west Kingston was caught on hearth as we speak.
Nonetheless, no accidents have been reported and the blaze was confined to a “very small” space, in line with Robert Hill, chief government officer of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Company.
“The hearth appears to be within the centre of the entrance a part of the cemetery and it’s not endangering any lives or any property at the moment,” Hill instructed journalists, including that he was readily available to evaluate the scenario.
A unit from the Trench City Fireplace Station – situated throughout from the cemetery – responded to the fireplace.
“They’ve left to return,” Hill mentioned, referring to the staff of firefighters.
John Cornwall, superintendent of cemeteries in Kingston and St Andrew, mentioned it was unclear what precipitated the fireplace.
“You’ve gotten individuals residing right here who’re of unsound thoughts and you’ve got individuals passing by way of the cemetery who could also be smoking and drop the cigarettes that would have precipitated the fireplace,” he recommended.
