    Digicel Foundation launches ‘Safer Internet Together’ programme

    KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Digicel Basis has launched its Safer Web Collectively (SIT) programme, a year-long initiative geared toward selling on-line security and digital duty for Jamaicans of all ages.

    The programme was formally launched on February 11, 2025, on the Mona College of Enterprise and Administration on the College of the West Indies to mark Safer Web Day.

    Underneath the theme “Collectively, For A Higher Web”, the SIT programme will give attention to on-line security, digital literacy and cyber consciousness in collaboration with 150 academic establishments throughout the island.

    The initiative is being rolled out in partnership with the Ministry of Training, STEM Builders Studying Hub, United Nations Worldwide Youngsters’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Sunshine Snacks, Jamaica Public Service Firm (JPS), and MacMillan Training.

    Specialised classes may also be performed in September for older adults throughout Senior Residents’ Month to assist them recognise and defend themselves from on-line threats.

    Digicel Group Chief Govt Officer, Marcelo Cataldo stated the programme goals to assist Jamaicans, particularly younger kids, navigate the digital area safely.

    “Our duty at Digicel is to work collectively to assist the brand new technology be secure and guarded,” he stated.

    In the meantime, Assistant Commissioner of Police Leonardo Brown, who offered on the launch, reminded individuals that on-line exercise leaves a everlasting digital footprint.
