THE dynamic duo of coach Jason DaCosta and jockey Robert Halledeen continued their dominance at Caymanas Park on Saturday, teaming as much as win three spectacular races on the nine-race card.
Their victories had been highlighted by Mamma Mia’s spectacular win in Division Two of the $1.25-million Allan E “Billy” Williams Memorial Trophy characteristic race.
Mamma Mia, a gifted five-year-old chestnut mare, delivered a commanding efficiency within the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over seven furlongs (1,400m). Mamma Mia led from begin to end, crossing the road by a size and a half forward of Neo Star (Shane Ellis) in a time of 1:26.1. Sonny T and Chippy (Omar Walker) took third place, rounding out the highest three finishers.
And DaCosta and Halledeen’s profitable streak didn’t cease there as in addition they mixed to win the third and fourth races with American Aviator and Lucy within the Sky, respectively.
In an upset, Get A Pepsi, educated by Fitzroy Glispie and ridden by Richard Henry, took the highest honours in Division One of many Allan E “Billy” Williams Memorial Trophy. Get A Pepsi, who went off at odds of 17-1, edged out Supremasi (Tevin Foster) by a neck, with Additional and Past (Aaron Chatrie) ending third in a time of 1:26.4.
Champion jockey Raddesh Roman was to not be disregarded as he booted residence Pappie Don for coach Gregg Fennell within the second race, and Unruly Dude for coach Marvin Campbell within the fifth race.
