JOCKEY Robert “Hardball” Halledeen narrowly escaped severe harm after a dramatic fall from his mount, Equinox, in the course of the working of eighth race on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The incident occurred as Equinox was about to enter the straight, coming off the bend, within the difficult, five-furlong-round (1,000m) contest. All of a sudden, the horse suffered a catastrophic harm, breaking its proper leg and sending Halledeen tumbling to the bottom.
The autumn was met with collective gasps from the group, and preliminary issues urged a doubtlessly extreme end result for Halledeen. Nevertheless, after receiving medical consideration it was confirmed that the seasoned jockey had miraculously escaped main harm.
Halledeen reported feeling sore the next morning however, fortuitously, no important harm was detected. Whereas shaken by the incident, Halledeen is anticipated to make a full restoration.
Tragically, Equinox’s accidents had been deadly, and the horse was humanely euthanised.
