    Vybz Kartel to receive MOBO Impact Award

    Dancehall kingpin Vybz Kartel will obtain the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Affect Award on the 2025 ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, February 18, in New Citadel on the Utilita Area in the UK.

    MOBO organisers made the announcement on the awards’ official Instagram web page.

    The submit learn “Your 2025 #MOBO Awards MOBO Affect Award honouree is none apart from @vybzkartel. His musical affect? Plain. His affect? Unmatched. From redefining the sound of dancehall to inspiring a worldwide motion, his affect transcends generations.”

    In 2004, Vybz Kartel’s aggressive nomination within the Greatest Reggae Act class, was withdrawn because of controversy surrounding homophobic content material of his lyrics.

    The Greatest Reggae Act class which existed between 1996 and 2021, was renamed Greatest Caribbean Music Act for the 2022 staging.

    The nominees within the Greatest Caribbean Music Act class for the 2025 staging are Spice, Popcaan, YG Marley, Valiant, Skillibeng and Shenseea.
