WOLMERS’ Boys’ ‘A’ staff are the champions of the Nationwide Excessive Faculties Chess Championships for 2025 contested over two days and 6 rounds at Calabar Excessive Faculty.
Wolmers’ dominated the sphere from the preliminary spherical by which they scored an ideal 20 wins from 20 video games throughout 4 boards, whereas within the finals they’d 16 wins, six drawn video games and two losses, once more throughout 4 boards. Second went to defending champions Campion Faculty ‘A’, third was St Catherine Excessive Faculty ‘A’, fourth was the highest seed St Jago Highschool ‘A’, with Manning’s ‘A’ rounding out the highest 5.
St Jago Excessive Faculty girls’ staff gained the award for the highest all women staff, having achieved the excellence of creating the nationwide finals by which they positioned twenty second from a discipline of 24 groups that contested the finals. Regional staff awards had been gained by Titchfield Excessive Faculty for Northeast, Inexperienced Island Excessive Faculty for the Western area, St Jago Excessive Faculty for the Middlesex area, and Campion Faculty for all of the Kingston and St Andrew contested groups.
High board awards went to Fide Grasp (FM) Jaden Shaw of Wolmer’s Boys’ Faculty for board one, excellent on 6/6 factors; Corbin Harvey of Wolmer’s Boys’ Faculty for board two, 5.5/6 factors; Brian Thompson of Glenmuir Excessive Faculty for board three, excellent 6/6 factors; Khatroy Cato of St Jago Highschool for board 4, 4.5/6 factors, with the highest reserve award going to Aaron McKoy of Campion Faculty, 3/3 factors.
Successful staff captain for Wolmer’s Boys ‘A’ staff, FM Jaden Shaw shared, “we gained as a result of we labored as a staff all season, supporting one another every step of the journey”. He devoted the win to your complete Wolmer’s faculties group that will probably be celebrating its 296th anniversary on Could 21, 2025.
The Nationwide Excessive Faculty Campionships is a Jamaica Chess Federation annual occasion, contested by 70 faculties islandwide in six zones, with the highest two groups robotically advancing to the grand finals and the following 12 groups advancing from a play-off of the remaining groups.
